Dr. Michelle Yap

Dr Michelle Yap attended the University of Melbourne. Following graduation with first-class honours, Dr Yap was selected to work at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, where she gained invaluable experience in the management of medically compromised patients alongside renowned medical and dental specialists. She also honed her oral surgery and dental trauma skills and published a research paper in the Australian Dental Journal.

Whilst at The Alfred, Dr Yap also worked in general private practice in Melbourne’s suburbs. However, while on holiday in Tasmania, Dr Yap fell in love with the island’s way of life and made the move to Hobart in 2014. She has been part of the practice ever since and her friendly and caring nature has seen her establish herself in the local community, with many patients and their families now calling her their regular dentist.

To ensure her patients have access to the widest range of high-quality and contemporary dental  treatment, Dr Yap is committed to lifelong professional development through continuing education. She has clocked more than 160 hours annually on continuing professional development courses and  developed further skills in dermal fillers, facial injectables, orthodontics (braces and Invisalign) and  replacing missing teeth with dental implants. She is currently completing a post-graduate diploma in orthodontics. Furthermore, Dr Yap has clinical privileges at both Hobart Day Surgery and St John’s Hospital and is able to treat patients under general anaesthesia at their facilities.

Outside of dentistry, she is an avid foodie (her favourite cuisine is Thai) and her idea of relaxing is  watching Netflix on the couch with her family.
